BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
James L. Burns earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at The College of Wooster
in Wooster, Ohio in 1980, enrolled at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in
1987 and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree in 1990. He is a member of
the Cleveland Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Association of
Trial Lawyers of America, Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers and the National Network of
Estate Planning Attorneys.
He has worked since he was twelve years old and has gained practical
knowledge from the various positions he has held. He has been employed
as a newspaper delivery boy, golf caddy, dishwasher, groundskeeper, concrete
laborer, factory worker, salesman, collector and loan officer at a local
federal saving and loan bank before practicing law.
His first job as a lawyer was in a personal injury law firm representing
injury victims and their families. He is proud to have worked on cases
resulting in settlements and awards in the millions of dollars. He has
also administered probate estates and represented disgruntled heirs.
These experiences led to the discovery that the probate process can be
entirely avoided by preparing a Revocable Living Trust as part of a complete
estate planning process.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the
American Liver Foundation, Northern Ohio Chapter, and the Transplant
Recipients International Organization (TRIO), Greater Cleveland Chapter, and
is a Certified Volunteer Speaker for LifeBanc. He resides in Lakewood,
Ohio.
